The most widespread language is English. About 54,7 percent from total amount of pages and documents in worldwide network are in English. The Russian language took second place in the ranking of languages, according to latest research of W3Tech. The experts have estimated the German language a bit less.
Further follow Spanish (in total with Catalan), French, Chinese and Japanese. Thus, if we consider only a thousand of the most respected resources of the worldwide network, the Russian language moves on the sixth place, passing forward, Chinese, French, German and Japanese.
Yet in September, 2011, the domain zone .RU came out on top among national domains, second only to the zones .COM and .NET. In addition to a constant gain of sites in the zone .RU, there a steady growth in zone .SU and .RF, a cyrillic domain. Russian remains the most popular even among domain zones of the largest countries of the former USSR — Ukraine, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and others.
The authors of the research suggest that in the next few years, the Russian language will retain its leading position. Therefore it gives ground for the new domain “ .ДЕТИ “, in which creation “Smart Internet Foundation” is engaged, to be in demand in Russia and around the world.
