Fourth “Dot ДЕТИ Online” webinar held ahead of Russia’s Internet Day
The fourth webinar of the Dot ДЕТИ Online (dot Children online)series took place on the VK-community Safe childhood information Environment, organized by the Smart Internet Foundation.
The event coincided with Russia’s Internet Day and focused on the project Веб-ландия.дети (‘Web-Land dot Children’) – a catalog of the best children’s websites in the Russian segment of the Internet, compiled jointly by children’s libraries across Russia specifically for young internet users. The guest speaker was Evgeniya Armaderova, coordinator of the project.
Evgeniya explained how the resource is structured and how to search for materials within it. The catalog is divided into thematic sections ranging from literature and the Russian language to animal life, technology, and electronics. Users can browse content by topics, keywords, or age markers. Special attention during the broadcast was given to the sections “Computer and Internet,” “Electronics and Telecommunications,” and “Cybersecurity.”
Sites are selected based on strict criteria: fast loading speed, user-friendly interface, clear language, age-appropriate design, and absence of prohibited content. The resource is described as community-driven – any user can suggest a website via a special button. Approximately forty library partners maintain its relevance; over the past year, the site received around 32,000 visitors.
In closing, Evgeniya touched upon future challenges: children are increasingly moving towards apps and messengers, and the team is currently discussing how to respond to this trend.
All recordings of the “Dot ДЕТИ Online” cycle are available on the official VK page of the Fund.
