Касперский.дети – the ABC of digital security for young Internet users

February 25, 2026

As part of the Safer Runet Week, a webinar from the series  “Dot ДЕТИ Online” was held, the guest of which was representatives of Kaspersky Lab

On February 20, another meeting of the “Dot .ДЕТИ Online” cycle took place on the VK-community Safe childhood information Environment, organized by the Smart Internet Foundation.

The new issue was timed to coincide with the 19th Safer Runet Week, and therefore the creators of the Kaspersky project became the guest of the Касперский.дети (‘Kaspersky dot Children’) are the ABCs of digital security for young Internet users from Kaspersky Lab.

The moderator of the meeting, the coordinator of the Foundation’s projects, Victoria Bunchuk, conducted a short “tour” for the webinar listeners through the sections of the project that contain simulators, useful educational and methodological materials, as well as podcasts, cartoons and a TV series for teenagers. All of them help in an interactive form, adapted for different categories of users (children, parents and teachers), to learn the basics of digital literacy and culture, as well as learn the rules of responsible online behavior.

Another section of the Касперский.дети contains data from the Laboratory’s annual All-Russian study “Adults and Children on the Internet.” The results of the latter were presented by Andrey Sidenko, head of digital literacy projects at Kaspersky Lab. So, according to the study, modern children in Russia are getting access to gadgets and the Internet earlier and earlier: if 15-17-year-old schoolchildren started using technology before the age of 7 in only half of cases, then among younger schoolchildren this figure reaches 90%. At the same time, it is parents who actively involve children in the digital world, using gadgets for joint leisure; almost half of families practice watching content and games together; 71% of parents regularly ask their children about their location through gadgets.

The study also showed that the main threats in the digital space include downloading malware disguised as media files and participating in fake contests. Cyberbullying is of particular concern, as 10% of children have experienced it.

“The use of various security solutions on all devices that a child has access to, as well as two–factor authentication and strong passwords, are basic security measures. At the same time, the importance of data protection should be explained to the child in a language he understands, without prejudice to his comfort in using technology,” said Andrey Sidenko.

At the end of his speech, Andrey once again listed the basic rules of safe Internet surfing, including the use of parental controls, checking links before switching, refusing to download suspicious files and limiting the publication of personal information online.

The recordings of all the webinars from “Dot ДЕТИ Online” cycle are published in the official community of the Foundation on the VK social network.
