On September 10-12, 2021, the 37th International Congress on Children’s Books is going to be held in Moscow for the first time. The program of the Congress includes a set of events aimed at popularizing domestic children’s literature and familiarizing a wide audience with Russian experience in supporting and promoting children’s reading.
Within the framework of the project, exhibitions will be organized dedicated to the work of Russian illustrators – laureates of the Golden Medal of H. K. Andersen Tatyana Mavrina (1976) and Igor Oleinikov (2018)”, a book exhibition “The Best Books of Russian Publishers for Children and Teenagers ”, there will be round tables, master classes, creative meetings with modern children’s writers, illustrators, researchers and popularizers of children’s literature and books, a presentation of a special issue of the international magazine “Bookbird” dedicated to children’s literature in Russia.
The project will be implemented using a grant provided by the NGO “Russian Fund of Culture” within the framework of the federal project “Creative People” of the national project “Culture”.
For reference: The International Children’s Book Congress is held by the International Council for Children’s Books (IBBY) – the largest authoritative organization that has been active in the field of children’s and youth literature for more than 60 years and operates under the auspices of UNESCO. International congresses are held once every two years in the countries where the national sections of the Council operate. Writers, illustrators, translators, book publishers, teachers, psychologists take part in the congresses. sociologists, experts in children’s reading from all over the world, which allows you to exchange views and determine new directions for the development of children’s reading and children’s literature. More than 200 experts from 52 countries of the world will make presentations in Moscow.
